About the Artist
April Coviello
April Coviello has been drawing animals and people since she was a little girl growing up in Wisconsin. After moving to Northern California in 1989, she began taking oil painting classes for the first time. The vineyards of Napa and Sonoma became a favorite subject for her paintings along with the gorgeous landscapes of Tuscany and the piazzas of Rome where she found inspiration for her art after a month-long visit to Europe.
After moving to California's central coast in 1999, April has grown as an artist by learning from renowned artists such as Mark Geller, Libby Tolley, Bonnita Budysz, and Ron Rencher. She has expanded her repertoire to include oil painting en plein air and studio work on larger canvasses utilizing these field sketches and her research photos. She continues to develop her artistic "voice" and feels she will never stop her learning process because there are always new techniques and styles to try. One of April's greatest joys is to create a piece that touches someone personally, so they feel the painting puts them in the location of the piece. Drawing inspiration from the picturesque landscapes of the Central Coast of California she hopes to achieve that personal touch through her artwork.
